Editorial policy
How we write and check everything a physician reads here: state guides, requirement data and courses.
Primary sources
Every requirement we state comes from the body that sets it: the state medical or osteopathic Board’s website, the statute or the Board’s published rules (and, for other credentials, the issuing body itself). We do not copy requirements from course sellers or other summaries. Each guide lists the pages it relies on so you can read them yourself. Where the published text does not settle a point, we say “Confirm with your Board” rather than guess.
Course content is based on current published evidence and guidelines, cited in the course. Clinical cases are synthetic; we never use real patient information.
Review dates
Every guide shows the month it was last reviewed, and every fact in our requirement data records the day it was last checked. An automatic check re-reads every cited source each week; when a source changes, moves or stops answering, we re-check the states that rely on it and update the guide and the data. More detail: How we verify requirements.
Every course is reviewed by our medical director, Dr. Parth Patel, a family physician, before it is offered. Every change is kept with its date in our records.
Independence from commercial interests
Our courses are being prepared for certification and are not approved for credit yet. We hold them to the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education:
- content must be valid: based on current science and evidence, and fair and balanced;
- no marketing or commercial bias: decisions about content are ours alone, and no company that makes or sells products used on patients chooses topics, authors or wording;
- everyone who controls content discloses their financial relationships with such companies, relevant ones are mitigated before the course is offered, and the disclosure is shown to learners before they start;
- any commercial support would be managed and disclosed as the Standards require;
- advertising and other promotion are kept apart from education.
Today EdPortus has no commercial supporters and shows no advertising. Our guides and requirement data describe what the rules require, not a product.
Corrections
If you find an error, write to support@edportus.com with the page and, if you can, the Board page or rule that shows it. We check every report against the primary source and answer within five business days. When we correct something, we update the page and its review date, and the change is kept in our records.
Your state Board always has the final word. Our guides are a careful summary, not legal advice.
