The rule
Confirm with your Board S.C. Code § 40-47-39 (Act 106 of 2026, effective March 9, 2026): physicians practicing emergency medicine, primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology or as hospitalists, and those working in public health clinics, emergency departments, urgent care centers and community-based centers, complete a 1-hour course: licensed before January 1, 2026 — before January 1, 2028, then every six years; licensed on or after January 1, 2026 — within two years of initial licensure, then every six years. The course must contain information reviewed by the SC Human Trafficking Task Force and its Healthcare Subcommittee, and may be offered only by a statewide organization recognized by the ACCME to accredit South Carolina CME providers, "a statewide organization approved to provide continuing medical education by its national organization" (ACCME-accredited), or an organization approved by the Board. It counts within the 40 hours. The Board has not yet adopted rules or listed courses.
