Our target

We aim for every page of edportus.com, learn.edportus.com and the installable app to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

How we check

  • Automated browser tests run on every change: every control and link has a name, headings are in order, every page can be used with the keyboard alone and shows where focus is, and links inside text are underlined and have enough contrast.
  • Each screen is checked at phone, tablet and desktop widths, in light and dark mode.
  • Text and button colors are tested against their backgrounds for at least 4.5:1 contrast.
  • Course clips come with captions and a transcript, and animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion.

Known limitations

These are the gaps we know about. We are working on them.

  • When a form is sent back with an error, the message names the field, but the field itself is not yet marked as invalid for screen readers.
  • We have not yet completed a full review with a screen reader (VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS), or a check of every page at 400% zoom.
  • PDF downloads (certificates, transcripts and packets) are not yet tagged for screen readers. The same information is on the matching page of your account.
  • Community videos are posted by physicians and do not yet carry captions.
  • Videos embedded from YouTube or Vimeo use those companies’ own players and controls.
